One of the most distinguished contemporary Serbian directors brings the second part of a trilogy about the consequences of war in the former Yugoslavia. Patria weaves stylised black-and-white passages set eleven years ago, and a faded-colour present, shot with a slow, almost documentary style camera. Maca lost her child during the civil war in Kosovo, and she now works as a singer in Belgrade. During the Easter holidays, the lives of several characters stricken by past traumas intertwine, including Maca's ex-husband who is leaving a monastery for a new mission. The drama discusses faith, incurable wounds, and the fate of women after war. (Febiofest)
