Két kínai kereskedőhajót megtámadnak a Mekong-folyón és megölik a legénység 13 tagját. A thai rendőrök 900 000 metamfetamin tablettát találnak a hajókon. (AMC Hungary)

angol Undisguisedly naive propaganda, which is even worse because it does not work even in terms of genre. The black-and-white characters who don´t give a damn about, have dialogs that make you wanna cry, and heroically risk their lives in an unrealistically excessive Bay-style shallow average action that we have seen hundreds times. The choreography of the contact scenes is good, but the frantic editing ruined everything. In addition, it is so fabricated that it may no longer even bear the label "based on real events". angol Dante Lam is a whiz, all of his films have ended up with four stars from me and Operation Mekong is no exception. This time he chose the rather gritty setting of drug dealers which is not typical for Hong Kong. There are kids with guns playing Russian roulette, snorting coke, well it's not very nice to look at, but I welcome unusual things. There is quite a lot of action and it's decent, the finale is almost half an hour long and it reminds me of the jungle carnage from a Rambo film. Fortunately the film is proper R-rated and the top technical aspects are nice to look at (especially the car explosions or slow motion cars in the air). Good enough. 80%. ()

angol Based on real events and state propaganda. Dante Lam in China’s pay – on the one hand, less of his usual kitsch, overwrought pathos and fatefulness, but also less of his distinctive style. Operation Mekong thus has a single advantage, which is that it shows that even Lam’s most delirious creations actually had something to them. This film is merely a hollow work that aims to add pomposity to the propaganda fairy tale, but when you see a compositionally identical crane shot or eye-catching CGI effects (predominantly poorly designed greenscreens) on multiple occasions, it starts to be rather ridiculous. Furthermore, Lam openly copies iconic action sequences of the past, particularly the mall scene from Police Story and the jungle camp from Predator, as well as dozens of cheap action flicks from the Vietnam War. angol There are a lot of action movies, so the ones that want to impress have to stand out. This one stands out, stands out, for example, in its raw and gritty nature, which is refreshing compared to American productions, which often lack in this regard. The story isn't bad either and the performances are surprisingly civil and good in places. ()
