The Story of My Grandfather

The year is 1980. A process of economic reform and modernization is slowly taking off in China. Opening up to the world is a major part of that reform. Much is changing, but a lot stays the same. Before the Spring Festival, which is the Chinese New Year, the most important celebration in the Chinese calendar, a grandfather finds a bag of money in the road. The bag is claimed by a man who says he is the owner. It soon turns out this isn’t true. Feeling guilty, the grandfather decides to find the swindler. He travels from village to village, from winter to spring… A song of praise for human honesty. (Warsaw Film Festival)
