A londoni rendőrség kétségbeesetten szeretné elkapni a hírhedt műkincs tolvajt Marrascaudt, ezért egy tökéletesnek hitt csapdát állítanak neki. A Le Mesurier család bejelenti, hogy gyönyörű lányukat Lucindát bevezetik a társaságba és viselni fogja a különösen drága gyémánt nyakláncot. Továbbá kiállítanak egy híres műalkotást Marrascaud kedvenc festőjétől Van Druystól. Az eseményen részt vesz Poirot is. Az este katasztrofális eredménnyel jár, a tolvaj ellopja a festményt és az ékszert Poirot orra elől, hátrahagyva a meggyilkolt Lucindát. Poirot teljesen összetört és depresszióba esik. Dr Burton próbál segíteni neki, hogy újra fellelkesüljön, de csak egy újabb ügy segítenie neki. Mikor egy fiatal sofőr megkéri, hogy keresse meg a szerelmét, érzi csak úgy Poirot, hogy úja képes dolgozni. A kutatás során a svájci Alpokba is eljut, ahol egy régi ismerőssel találkozik Vera Rossakoff grófnővel… (Galaxy4)

The 2010 Orient Express was unique mainly because it presented Hercule from a new angle and was totally consistent in therein - it subjected everything to the dark psychological picture of searching for a broken man. This episode attempts to do something similar (the return of the Hercule-lover torn by guilt), but is desperately inconsistent as it stumbles between the backdrop of Swiss operetta and the sentiment of a nickel-and-dime novel. This time, Hercule's femme fatale looks like a cheap and vulgar Russian prostitute, the unraveling is explicitly demented and the alpine hotel looks like a poorly lit stage for a dubious piece. Only Suchet sails through it with enormous grace. Otherwise, it’s a weak link in the 13th series. [55%]

The linking of the two cases and the coincidence that led the despondent Poirot back on the trail of the mysterious Marascaud seemed to me to be... Odd. I'm thinking that the missing maid in The Labours of Hercules almost didn't need to be there and nothing overly major would have happened. However, I was pleased with the Countess's return, David Suchet handled everything with his usual grace, the atmosphere of the high mountain hotel was appropriately cramped and the final unraveling was very nicely delivered.__P.S. I have to complain about the Czech dubbing. Given that Vladislav Beneš usually dubs Captain Hastings, I would not have expected a completely different character to speak in his voice in this part, in which Hastings does not appear. Weird.

I fell in love with the environment here, which was simply beautiful. The stunning Swiss Alps, peaks that are snow-capped all year round, and moreover, there's a minimum number of people. This is exactly how I imagine the perfect vacation. And on top of that, there is a story that is definitely not bad, on the contrary, it is very good and has a surprising resolution. As always. Even though it's not the last installment of Poirot, it was the last one I watched. And so, a certain nostalgia came over me.
