Tacht-e Suleiman is a celebrated archaeological site in Iran, included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is the azure lake in the middle, however, which captures one’s attention, rather than the remains of ancient buildings. What mysteries have been hiding under its surface for more than 1000 years? The first part of the documentary Mysteries of the Lake presents the genius loci of the site. Impressive shots of flying cameras highlight the photogenicity of Tacht-e Suleiman; the past of the area is reconstructed using archive materials, animations and real footage. The second part of the film shows the exploration of the mysterious lake. Divers set off to the unexplored depths to finally find out what's hidden there. (Academia Film Olomouc)
