In his humorous, yet sentimental auteur film, Moretti, himself, portrays the main character, a young priest who returns to Rome after his service on a remote island, and he takes over the position of a priest whose affair resulted in conception of a child. Upon his arrival, the protagonist appears in the centre of relationship problems that his friends and relatives pile on him. The film focuses on the difficulties of the protagonist and the way he deals with the situation and gradually loses both his ideals and his patience, but the depiction is full of sympathy and tolerance.
