The Real Thing VR

At first glance it's clearly the Eiffel Tower. On the second, something clearly isn't right. The tower is too low, there are only Chinese inscriptions everywhere, and there's not a single patisserie in sight, the horizon instead lined with prefab concrete blocks. This fake Eiffel Tower is located in the centre of Changsha, whose magnificent name hides a not so exalted reality. It is a modern Potemkin village where the monuments of several Western metropolises are brought together in a strange mix. This visually captivating VR documentary shows how local people, despite living in a "fake" environment, retain their own lifestyle. (One World)
