Inspired by one of the most ancient and enduring stories in Chinese history, White Snake presents a sumptuous tale of trickster demons, deadly mythical beasts, assassins, wuxia action, and the promise of eternal love. Bianca, a young woman who has lost her memory, is helped by Xuan, a snake catcher, and together they set off on a search to find her identity. They have to overcome one dangerous obstacle after another and in their quest they gradually develop feelings for one another. What a beauty! The animation easily surpasses Disney and Pixar combined. At times I felt like jumping into the TV and seeing everything up close. The scenery, the setting and the images are truly impressive. The action is also good, with giant Snakes instead of dragons and foxes, and it looks spectacular. I'm blown away, I enjoyed it. The only thing that bothers me a bit about Chinese animation is the lack of humour, but the other attributes make up for it beautifully. 8/10.

This is a visually stunning movie. However, story-wise, it is a bit weak and too predictable. It was also quite charming, even though it certainly did not charm me as much as I would have liked, so I think 7/10 is about right. The ending itself was a bit disappointing and left me with only one thought "Why the hell did she wait so long?". Anyway, it was a very interesting and pleasant movie.
