A dél-amerikai dzsungelben, őslakos indiánok között élő különc orvos, Robert Campbell (Sean Connery) hátat fordított a civilizációnak. Egy szép napon azonban felfedezi, hogy a birtokában lévő növényi hatóanyag megmentheti az emberiséget az egyik legsúlyosabb betegségtől.
