Thirty-seven-year-old Satoru Mikami is a typical corporate worker, who is perfectly content with his monotonous lifestyle in Tokyo, other than failing to nail down a girlfriend even once throughout his life. In the midst of a casual encounter with his colleague, he falls victim to a random assailant on the streets and is stabbed. However, while succumbing to his injuries, a peculiar voice echoes in his mind, and recites a bunch of commands which the dying man cannot make sense of. When Satoru regains consciousness, he discovers that he has reincarnated as a goop of slime in an unfamiliar realm. In doing so, he acquires newfound skills. Notably, the power to devour anything and mimic its appearance and abilities. He then stumbles upon the sealed Catastrophe-level monster "Storm Dragon" Verudora who had been sealed away for the past 300 years for devastating a town to ashes. Sympathetic to his predicament, Satoru befriends him, promising to assist in destroying the seal. In return, Verudora bestows upon him the name Rimuru Tempest to grant him divine protection.  Now, liberated from the mundanities of his past life, Rimuru embarks on a fresh journey with a distinct goal in mind. As he grows accustomed to his new physique, his gooey antics ripple throughout the world, gradually altering his fate. (FUNimation Entertainment)

Season 1 (2018) (S01)

angol Review from April 2019 (updated for 2021) - I do not know what has been going on lately, however, there seems to be slime everywhere! The trending topics on YouTube are all about "playtime with slime", and then you turn on the TV in the morning and the commercials are again bombarding you with animals vehemently discussing whether slime poops or vomits. Not to mention the fact that in our local department store there is a huge display with tubs of slime in the toy section... I want to know, since when did slime become so popular? Anyway, I think that making slime the main protagonist in an anime series is a really original and brilliant move, and I welcome it with as much enthusiasm as I did when a few years ago, Momonga, a giant skeleton, was the main protagonist in a similar anime series - Overlord. Comparing “Slime” with Overlord is probably a bit obvious, because both are, in my opinion, a combination of RPG and strategy building...even though they both approach these things differently. On one hand Overlord takes itself pretty seriously and is a drama full of tension, and also features lots of strategy and tactics, plus thrilling and cool fights - while on the other hand "Slime" is (really much) more easy going and refreshing. The main protagonist is quite likable and the whole thing is quite unpredictable, joyful and playful rather than just dramatic. This is fine by me, though, because I found that it made watching it more enjoyable. I was engaged by the suspense at times and was really entertained, plus at times I was really curious about what was going to happen next, because the season kept bringing original ideas, even though we knew it would turn out OK in the end. Even though I had to think about this a bit, because the show can be pretty stupid at times (like when there is a tense dramatic fight scene and the main protagonist just defeats a stronger enemy with a single shot of honey) I am still satisfied with awarding this the highest rating I can because this was a nice, funny and very enjoyable isekai and I am eagerly anticipating the next installments. 9/10. Season 2 (2021) (S02)

angol There is really not much to argue about here, this is still a terribly entertaining and charming show where everyone gets what they deserve. At the same time, this anime series is full of thrilling and dramatic moments that I thoroughly enjoyed, and battles that were suitably epic, colorful, and intense... The start of this season was a bit slower, however, the irritating kids from the first season are thankfully absent. There was a moment when I was a bit concerned for the main male protagonist and his crew, which was actually quite nice. The finále of the first half of the season, and I found the whole Megiddo thing, plus everything around it really intriguing too. I did get a bit preoccupied with the moral side of things, however, I got over it in the end, with a calm "all is permitted in love and war". In the second half of the season, it is very satisfying when Rimuru finally strikes back, and I am now able to cheer for the main male protagonist again - I thoroughly enjoyed the whole damn thing... In the end, I am very satisfied. I am looking forward to the next installment because there is a lot more to these weird clowns than I would have expected, and the narrative still has a lot to offer. I am not going to make this review any longer, the show is awarded a clear five stars, and it is even a hair better than the first season because this was a very intense arc, a decent contrast to the cute if a bit boring The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (although it is actually strangely complementary anyway) and that is how I like it. 9.5/10.
