Season 1 (2018) (S01)

angol In the same spirit as the previous three seasons, but taken from the other end. Luna is surprisingly charismatic, but in a completely different way than Escobar or the Cali cartel. And there are also all the little details that belong to Mexico, such as girls, beaches, drinks, etc. If Pablo took a vacation from killing and trading and wanted to disappear somewhere, this is what it would look like. The second season has quite some potential. ()

Camelot (2018) (S01E01)

angol The opening introduction of a legendary series. Raw, realistic and true to the period, exactly what is required for a series on the history of drugs and narco-barons. It’s impossible not to notice the excellent script work in the style of Haggis's Crash (the seemingly random passing of two key characters in the street, the toilet, etc.), but it's all handled with aplomb, to the benefit of the cause. Excellent intro so far and looking forward to the next episodes. ()

A plázarendszer (2018) (S01E02)

angol The second episode offers a climactic general assembly scene, but otherwise it has the typical proportions. It continues the lines outlined in the original part and deepens them further. Logically, it loses the element of surprise, but on the other hand, it can significantly help to move the series forward. Surely, this is also due to the gorgeous picture book of period images of Mexico, which this episode is filled with like, the previous one. ()

El Padrino (2018) (S01E03)

angol The third season begins to gradually flesh out the story further and further, with a number of secondary characters gradually coming into play. At the same time, it very deftly and dynamically reveals the intricacy and complexity with which this megalomaniacal drug trade has been created and skillfully shows the interconnectedness of the individual pieces and departments on the imaginary chessboard, and consequently the problems that arise in the interaction of the often disparate characters. Of course, rivalry and money are always the main factors. ()

Rafa, Rafa, Rafa! (2018) (S01E04)

angol Something like a setup for the significant drug upgrade that will likely follow in the second part of the season. ()

A kolumbiai kapcsolat (2018) (S01E05)

angol A well balanced episode that brilliantly frames the big story, giving it the proper scale. Everything works perfectly, but the highlights are the final shootout and, naturally, the meeting with Pablo. ()

A végső határ (2018) (S01E06)

angol This episode brilliantly plays out three mini-stories, each coming to its own satisfying conclusion through dramatic finales and compelling moments. Another superb episode. ()

Főnökök főnöke (2018) (S01E07)

angol An almost perfect transformation of the protagonist, who has good roots, understandable thought motives and a proper dramatic arc. It’s not nice, but it does make a lot of sense. ()

Csak mondj nemet! (2018) (S01E08)

angol While the opening action sequence is shot on a handheld camera running behind a DEA agent like in Saving Private Ryan; logistically and strategically, however, the whole thing is very tragic. The pacing overall is bland and it's only at the end that something really starts to happen that has you clenching your fists and waiting impatiently to see how it all plays out. ()

Lope de Vega 881 (2018) (S01E09)

angol A bit crime drama instead of the expected action-packed hell. Not a bad decision for sure, there’s a lot of suspense and an interesting conclusion. ()

Legenda (2018) (S01E10)

angol The tenth episode concludes the intricate storyline about halfway through – logically for the sake of the next season. Of course, there are unexpected scenes full of twists and intrigue, as well as the unravelling of the main characters' relationships. The technical level is again solid, especially the ambush by the sea in slo-mo with excellent music. Some of the screenwriting twists and turns aren't quite clear, so it can feel stilted at times, like something was skipped, but I guess that happens sometimes with these big stories. ()

Season 2 (2020) (S02)

angol A bit weaker and less gripping than the first season, but the ending builds an interesting bridge between Season 1 and 3, with something that Felix started grandly, only to (probably) lose control of in the third season. Luna is terrific once again, and the writers aren't afraid to show with lucid clarity the few clean mistakes made by the otherwise great drug kingpin and business visionary Gallardo. I’m looking forward to the next season. ()

Mentsd meg a tigrist! (2020) (S02E01)

angol A slow start and a gradual birthday introduction of all the main figures of the second season with the cherry on top in the form of a conversation between Pacha and Gallardo. Very satisfied so far, it's on a similar note to the first one. ()

A kocka el van vetve (2020) (S02E02)

angol It begins with a superbly executed interrogation scene with an extremely charismatic bad guy and ends when the goddess (Teresa Ruiz) comes to visit the club. The forging of new partnerships and the attempts to end old ones in the middle are not that interesting. ()

Ruben Zuno Arce (2020) (S02E03)

angol A weird detour in the main storyline. The mini-story in the style of Wild West gunslingers is not very entertaining, nor is the absurd battle for honour. ()

A nagy ásás (2020) (S02E04)

angol The most rewarding episode so far. There’s a lot going on, the characters are finally profiled, and we are treated with the gradual elimination of "Shorty" and his bold idea with the tunnel. Excellent pace and progression on all major fronts. ()

AFO (2020) (S02E05)

angol A great ride full of twists and turns and a final execution that sets up big things in the next episodes. An episode on par with those starring Pablo. ()

Az elnökválasztás előtt (2020) (S02E06)

angol An episode consisting partly of scraps of Felix's memories plus a look at the emotional side of his personality. There’s also one major murder, but otherwise nothing revelatory. ()

Igazság és megbékélés (2020) (S02E07)

angol Clouds of chatter and no progress. Mexico volume 2 is beginning to lose momentum and fails to keep the viewer's attention at the level of its predecessors. ()

A rendszer összeomlása (2020) (S02E08)

angol A wild finale with the election and Acosta saying goodbye in style. ()
