Tropykaos

In Salvador da Bahia, the hottest summer in the last fifty years has paralysed the city as the relentless beams of sun begin to affect and destroy its population. Guima, a talented young poet, is trying to survive in that hot city but he has an inappropriate body for it. The sun is the metaphor of a violent system that falls asleep and when it wakes up it hurts everything alive. Society, family, friends, and love break down with the heat. Guima, with his desperation, is probably the first to feel the destructive effects of solar "attacks." At the threshold of the Carnival that seems to be the last ever, Guima faces the hot city as well as himself. (Kino Brasil)
