In suggesting Tu as crié LET ME GO, film critic and programmer Charlotte Selb called Anne Claire Poirier's documentary "a classic of Quebec cinema." Set in the aftermath of the murder of Poirier's daughter, Yanne, the documentary explores the profound pain of loss, as the filmmaker navigates the streets, hotels and morgues that became a part of her child's existence as an addict and sex worker in Montreal. Shooting in black and white, Poirier attempts to process the tragedy by tracing the events that led to murder, as she speaks in poetic voiceover. The result is the antithesis of a distanced documentary, and instead is an all-consuming portrait of grappling with the unimaginable. (Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival)
