Azok voltak ám csak az igazán szép idők, amikor egy angol újság busás díjat ajánlott föl annak, aki a leggyorsabban repül Londonból Párizsba. Akkor, aki csak pilóta volt a talpán, mind benevezett. Különös, ormótlan kis gépeiken mindannyian nekivágtak, hogy dicsőséget arassanak, és elnyerjék hölgyük szívét. Természetesen egyik feladat sem volt könnyű: a versenytársak ugyanis sikerük zálogát részben abban látták, hogy kibabráljanak egymással, így aztán nem csak a levegőben, de a földön is kemény megpróbáltatások vártak rájuk.
