The inquisitive men and women of the Czech Republic have left traces across all corners of the globe. It is for this reason that the series Czech Traces dedicated this episode to Vladimír Kozák, the forgotten traveller. He made his mark on history at the beginning of the 20th century as a painter, but more importantly as an ethnographer working in South America. This biographical documentary film gives us the opportunity to become acquainted with the fascinating life of Kozák and his sister, and also takes a look at the research to which he devoted his entire life. In Brazil, Kozák is considered to be one of the most important researchers of the local native tribes. He managed to capture and document the way of life of many dying tribes but his most famous discovery is marred by the fact that he was both the first and last white man to see and document the craft and usage of stone axes among the Héta tribe natives. In 1958, he was awarded the prestigious golden medal of the Brazilian Anthropological Association. His life and work remain largely unknown in the Czech Republic. (Academia Film Olomouc)
