Michael Shannon and another oddball role that seems tailor-made for him. He is also one of the bright spots of this rather dark and slightly dull film, which is only entertaining in some of the brisker confrontations between the main character's father and the others, or when the balls, or more precisely the slaps, are handed out. Lots of interesting actors and rather wasted potential, but a great secondary twist at the end that maybe not everyone will notice.

I watched Wolves basically just because it stars Michael Shannon and Carla Gugino. I like them both very much, but it's only Michael who really gets a lot of space here and shows his acting skills. Carla doesn't have such a well-written role. But overall, the film is rather disappointing and the actors are not sufficiently elevated by the ordinary script.
