Baobab trees are among the most spectacular trees within the endemic flora of south-western Madagascar. They are nevertheless at risk of extinction due to the wood industry. Cyrille Cornu and Wilfried Ramahafaly, experts in biodiversity and preservation of wild nature, consequently decided to go on an expedition to survey a specific type of the tree, the Grandidier's Baobab, and document and better understand why the Baobab trees are slowly but surely disappearing. Apart from these strange plants, they are also interested in the inhabitants of Madagascar who depend on the Baobabs as a food and building source. According to the director, in order to reach an improved understanding of the Baobab situation in Madagascar, it is important to observe both the trees and their environment. Despite its occasional slow pace, the travel and popular science documentary fittingly characterizes the unique ecosystem which also incorporates the Baobab trees. At least for now.
