54-year-old Viggo has left behind a life as a drug user and infamous criminal. He is suffering from chronic pancreatis, but first and foremost he is bothered by his own past. In this documentary, Viggo returns to his childhood memories together with his sisters Vonnie and Kirsten. The family's recordings and photographs show a happy group of siblings. In many ways it is reminiscent of the Von Trapp family in the film The Sound of Music, including children who sing joyfully despite the harsh commands of their step father. The history of Viggo's family, however, is shadowed by a secret that the siblings find hard to deal with, even after decades. Viggo writes down his experiences on paper: "I write because my future is in my past." Sometimes the uneventfulness of everyday life bores Viggo, and he starts longing for the excitement inherent in criminal activity. The ghosts of the past are not easy friends to make, and the ones that are already familiar are hard to let go.
