The identical twins, Paul and Hansen, have set off on the trip of a lifetime: Travelling by bicycle from Berlin to Shanghai in seven months.
They've documented their encounters, adventures and experiences by camera. Immediate, unadulterated and authentic. A spectacular journey that takes the two brothers to the limits of their physical and mental endurance.
They set off with tent and sleeping mat in their luggage, always heading eastwards. The two record their experiences and feelings in video diaries. The tour is threatened with failure on a number of occasions: due to illness, missing visas and disputes between the two brothers. Their trip also becomes a journey of introspection, with many highs - and many lows too. Their route from Berlin to Shanghai doesn't just involve many kilometres. Long stretches are anything but safe - culminating in strange encounters with Russian border guards and a prison stay in China. Their journey leads over monumental passes and endless plains, through spectacular landscapes, to foreign cultures and exotic food – it's the trip of a lifetime.
