I was looking forward to a real horror series with a chilling atmosphere and brutal violence. Instead, I got an action comedy full of one-liners and brutal violence. Since I like black humor, I quickly adapted to the new situation and was able to enjoy the ride with Ash and his crew. With the exception of Episode 4, I had a hell of a good time.

Renaissance Pictures was founded in 1979 by Raimi, Tapert and Campbell. Evil Dead became the flagship and the rest is history. The cult classic has become a trilogy, a musical, and now a TV series. Later came Darkman, Hercules, Xena and Legend of the Seeker. And even if you didn't know all of this, you would subconsciously pick up on the similarities from these shows. A fan would for sure. The one thing that was missing in Evil Dead, i.e., a naked Lucy rising from the ashes and reciting from the Necronomicon, happens in the show. Finally.
