1805-ben csöppenünk bele a szentpétervári és moszkvai társasági élet legelőkelőbb köreibe, ahol hőseink, Pierre (Paul Dano), Natasa (Lily James) és Andrej (James Norton) a maguk módján, sok-sok tévutat bejárva életük értelmét keresik. A végtelenül őszinte szívű, de az emberek között esetlenül mozgó Pierre, aki Oroszország egyik leggazdagabb nemesének törvénytelen fia, a világ jobbá tételében akar szerepet vállalni. A jóképű, vitézi kiállású Andrej élethelyzetének kilátástalan unalmasságától szenved, a gyönyörű és túláradó életkedvű Natasa pedig leginkább az igaz szerelemről álmodozik. Napoleon hódító hadseregének közeledtével a bálok és szalonok pompáját a háború véres és rút valósága váltja fel sok orosz fiatal életében. Pierre, Andrej és Natasa számára is az átélt megpróbáltatások gyökeres fordulatok sorát fogják elhozni. (MTVA)

Háború és béke (2016)

angol I was really upset about the way the first part of the title was handled in the screenplay due to the budget. Practically all key battles took place off-screen. However, I liked how the romantic drama was executed. Paul Dano gave a brilliant performance in my view. The only problem was that he didn’t feel like an authentic Russian character. Anyway, I liked the series as a whole, but the creators could have put more effort into the details. ()

Episode 1 (2016) (E01)

angol I went into the first episode of War and Peace with concerns, I wasn't sure if the casting would be "Russian" enough, but I willingly admit that I was ultimately completely satisfied. The physiognomy of the selected actors/actresses didn't bother me at all and I was completely captivated by Paul Dano's appearance. I saw the typical Russian nobility of that time, I enjoyed the plot, I wasn't bored, so I just hope it stays that way until the end. ()

Episode 2 (2016) (E02)

angol War is certainly much less than peace, but in peace there is so much intrigue, manipulation, and cheating that I simply can't get bored. Moreover, the creators cast Helena Tuppence Middleton in the role, which made me happy, she fits the character perfectly. Compared to Tolstoy's original, I missed a more vivid depiction of the Battle of Slavkov, but what can I do. ()

Episode 3 (2016) (E03)

angol After the first episode, I evaluated the casting of the individual characters positively, and that satisfaction remains, only the Russian atmosphere does not breathe from the script for me. Russians have been and still are somewhat more spontaneous than the British, and the creators of the series were unable to achieve this impression. But I still like the processing. ()

Episode 4 (2016) (E04)

angol The difference between Russians and Brits, which I wrote about in the previous comment, was clearly noticeable here. The creators conceived the wolf hunt as a typical "foxhunt", and when I remember the same event in the movie "Svéráz národního lovu" (in the imagination of Fina Haapasala), it's like a hundred and one. ()

Episode 5 (2016) (E05)

angol This time I had to lower the rating, although the creators still effectively developed all the romantic storylines and under different circumstances, I would appreciate their effort with four stars, but the fifth episode brought the Battle of Borodino. Actually, it didn't bring it, and that is precisely the problem. I managed to overlook the fog of Slavkov, but to address one of the most important battles in Russian history so casually, it really disappointed me. ()

Episode 6 (2016) (E06)

angol In the previous comment, I complained about the almost absence of the Battle of Borodino, and in the final episode, I was somewhat disappointed by the fire in Moscow. True, the glow of the fire nicely illuminated the horizon, the wisps of smoke even obscured the sun, but the situation in the streets of Moscow looked completely different. Here and there, small flames danced above the ground, occasionally it was necessary to carry out a child from a burning house, but otherwise, it was quite a comfortable situation. At least the well-executed winter retreat caught my attention. ()
