Don't Open Your Eyes

When Annie must step away for the weekend, she brings on John, a home-care nurse to watch over Agnes, her critically ill aunt, in this horrifying tale. Here, phone reception is spotty; the days, dreary. Stuck in an increasingly freezing landscape, John is miles from the outside world. Yet, the noises around the house persist. As Agnes becomes temperamental, John starts neglecting her. When Agnes requests one last act of kindness – that John bury her by a tree before the ground freezes over in order to protect her soul from the spirits she believes occupy her house – he refuses. It goes against his religious beliefs. But what about Agnes’ beliefs? Aren’t they just as real as John’s? (Cinequest Festival)
