More than 90,000 people saw this feature directorial debut by young Cristina Iacob in the fi rst two months since premiere. It is a relaxed comedy about three girls – Yasmine, Ana and Roxane – who fl ee Bucharest to spend the last weekend before their finals at the seaside where they seek freedom, adrenaline and love. Yasmina wants to become an actress and Ana has plans to study at Princeton, while Roxi dreams of becoming a journalist. They meet three petty thieves who look they can fulfi l any woman's dreams. In another complication, Ana's dad and Roxane's mom are after the girls. The support cast features popular Romanian actors and several local pop stars. Some of the actors were found via Facebook. "I tell stories from my own experience," says Iacob who currently prepares a sequel to #selfi e. "My teachers taught me that directors should make films about what they know best. I like films with open ideas that are positive and colourful and I work a lot with intuition." (IFF Bratislava)
