Dessau Dancers

It's 1985 in the city of Dessau, East Germany, where the "break dance" fever engulfs not only 18-year-old Frank, but his friends as well. At first, the government regime monitors them in suspicion. But when the communist government realizes that they can't stop them, they try to exploit them to their advantage. They give break dance a new name, "acrobatic dance show", and put them in category B, which authorises the dancers to take part at the National Theater and on TV shows. The government begins using them for propaganda purposes and to drive breakdance from the streets. Our main heroes, however, remain faithful to their roots and agree to a dance battle. They get arrested, but they are still under government protection – and they've got propaganda to make. The dancers grow disenchanted with the abuse and thus decide to protest against it.
