Niccol bounces back. The problem with pilotless aircraft and their deployment in modern armed conflicts in the sense of cowardliness of states (in this case the USA) who send hellfire from the skies on their enemies was always only addressed very tentatively. Good Kill sits us down in the air-conditioned drone control box to watch butchery committed, defended and also criticized together with the breakdown of a regular guy who spent his whole life following orders. A precise Ethan Hawke, fantastic drone-like camerawork. It ain’t fuckin’ Play Station.

The fact that war itself is hell is clear. It's also hard to doubt that people make it even more hellish. There is a lot that can be covered up in a war conflict. Then there are some people still think a bit about what they're actually doing in war. That could be a problem. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't present this exceptionally well.
