Ben, a gimnáziumi biztonsági őr az elmúlt két évet azzal töltötte, hogy megpróbálta bebizonyítani Jamesnek, az atlantai rendőrség nyomozójának, hogy érdemes a húga, Angela kegyeire, és nem csak egy mihaszna, videójáték-mániás lúzer. Amikor Bent végre felveszik a rendőrakadémiára, úgy érzi, ezzel kivívta a dörzsölt zsaru tiszteletét, és áldását kéri tőle arra, hogy elvegye feleségül Angelát. Ám a sógorjelölt James bizonyítékot akar Ben rátermettségére, ezért úgy dönt, hogy magával viszi egy napra járőrözni - és ezzel majd a frászt is ráhozza a zöldfülű rendőrpalántára. De amikor az eszelős nap végére eljutnak a város leghírhedtebb bűnözőjéig, James kénytelen belátni, hogy új társának gyorstüzelő szája legalább olyan veszélyes, mint a körülöttük süvítő golyók. Hmm, it seems that someone here really, really wanted to be the new Eddie Murphy. Unfortunately (or fortunately), he has neither the charisma nor, and more importantly, the talent. Yeah, I’m talking about you, Kevin Hart. There’s no one as annoying and embarrassing in contemporary Hollywood as Hart, who surpasses even Chris Tucker, the king of awkwardness of his time, in terms of his relentless overacting and attempt to be "funny" at all costs. The only bright spot is Ice Cube, who may be tough as nails, but I like him since Three Kings, he’s fun. Which can’t be said for this awfully unfunny “comedy” that makes you think that any douchebag can be a screenwriter in Hollywood. I can understand the massive success overseas because the large black audience loves this whiny shit.

Horribly worn-out buddy movie formula that simply doesn't work as it should anymore. Ice Cube is surprisingly good, Kevin Hart is just annoying, and you really want him to get a lot more flack. Well, the story also runs in well-trodden tracks, not bringing anything specific to the table. Tim Story just continues to prove that he is simply an average filmmaker.
