A man shoots a drug dealer in a dead alley and robs him. This is the opening scene of Love - the first short movie of Cesar Mendonca, Brazilian film director living in Prague and studying cinema in the renowned FAMU. Contrary to the classical narrative approach which affirms that every action of a character has to be justified and logical, Laska is a movie that follows a line of dramatic analysis which believes in the spontaniosity and unpredictableness on human nature and proclaims a more undefined human nature which only takes shape in a specific situation. A movie which poses questions to the audience about the irony of human destiny and the distance that exists between a person‘s intentions and the results of his actions. Shot in a documentary style with the intent of creating a critical distance between the viewer and the story Love follows the actions of a family through a tragical evening. (FamuFest)
