This is the medieval Mongolian world of 1357, in a Russian production directed by Andrei Proshkin who presents a historical film full of violence and brutality. The epic picture follows the endless journey and stubborn faith in a miracle that would restore the power of the ruling Mongolian leader, the Great Khan and his followers. One village after another is plundered until an acceptable healer or shaman is found to cure the queen mother, Taidula, who suddenly lost her sight. Cruel raids and merciless executions finally lead the warriors to a great wizard who holds the fate of his lands firmly in his hands. (Febiofest)
