A fairly interesting story, but the historical portrayal simply didn't resonate with me, even though I assume it's faithful to the source material, and the overall effort for artistry, which I find increasingly self-indulgent in many films. Slow, lingering shots that try to convey something, but in reality, they fall quite short of achieving that.

The French film Marguerite & Julien tells the tragic story of the forbidden incestuous love between a sister and a brother. I have no problem with the subject matter in principle, I'm just sorry that the whole concept (including the acting) comes across as a bit cold. In short, this movie does not convey any strong emotion to the audience. (60%)
