angol The most dated classical comedy ever. Compared to Vlasta Burian escapades that are nearly a decade older, it appears very tired in terms of its formal elements, the genre is hardly utilized, it reduces the main character to a mere display rack for the usual clichés, and several times it merely corners him or sits him at a table and lets him tell old-fashioned stories. angol Just as the film The Virgin has no beginning, this one has no ending, and I'm not going to let it go despite my best efforts. I can still remember the first time I saw it and immediately the trauma that came in the first few minutes. Goodbye is about as much as you can find here. And Zorka? She’s a tragedy, even if she's still alive today. It’s unfortunate that the only reputable Čeněk comes from this film. ()

angol The title is quite misleading because it's not about the classic Baron Munchausen. It's a comedy about a baron and the misunderstandings that can arise from telling a few lies or not saying something. Whose son Benda actually is remains a mystery until the end. The film isn't explosively funny, but Vlasta Burian once again delighted me after some time. ()
