The section of the French Armed Forces known as the Commandos Marine is a unique naval assault corps. They wear the famous green beret. The nine-weeks selection course includes physical aptitude tests, diving, shooting, strategy and survival exercises, all on less than three hours’ sleep per night. The aim is to identify the candidates, aged between 20 and 30, best suited for the Special Forces, an elite corps of 2,500 French soldiers trained for highly confidential missions in extreme situations.
