Nouadhibou, an inhospitable town, washed on one side by the ocean and by the sand dunes of the Sahara on the other, is the last stop for thousands of people from all over Africa who converge here on the western shore and wait for an opportunity to set out in search of work and the fortunes of an illegal life across the water in Europe.
