angol Although Nights of Love premiered later, The Ship of Lost Men is actually Marlene Dietrich's last silent film. It was an interesting co-production between Germany and France - the interiors were shot in Berlin, the exteriors in Hamburg and Travemünde. The director had experience working with Mary Pickford. However, like many late silent films, it was unlucky in terms of being distributed in other countries; for example, it didn't reach England until 1930 and never made it to the American market. Those familiar with Dietrich's career, however, see a great role anticipating her top work with von Sternberg, such as in Dishonored. As the only female character, Dietrich is surrounded by men, and she pilots a plane and fights for her life. Like always, in her performance, everything she does is very fascinating. ()
