Beyond the well-worn paths of reception, Kurt Palm sets off on a search for the now hazy trail of the genius known as "Amadeus" and discovers a master of scatological humor, an obsessive gambler and anarchist who liked to be called "Lord von Pigdick." Kurt Palm, well-known Austrian playwright and director, has set off on the trail of an individual everyone's supposedly familiar with: Wolfgang "Amadeus" Mozart, universally loved composer and genius from Salzburg. Over the past few years Palm has done intensive research on Mozart, which resulted in his production of "Zauberflöte Fast Forward" for the club Szene Salzburg and his uncommon Mozart Culinary Theater evenings. As usual, in his documentary THE MEASURING OF THE CALVES Palm demonstrates his many-faceted talents as traveler, researcher, cook, writer, director and cultural intermediary all in one, managing to uncover those aspects of Mozart which aren't quite as familiar as his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.
