Leopoldovská pevnosť

A documentary on one of the cruellest prisons in Communist Czechoslovakia, where dangerous criminals were thrown together with political prisoners, war criminals with war heroes, priests and others who had been wrongfully convicted. Life behind the prison’s walls is attested to by former prisoners, including a key participant in the Prague Spring – literary historian and diplomat Eduard Goldstücker, imprisoned in the 1950s – and Alexander Mach, pardoned shortly beforehand, commander-in-chief of the Hlinka Guard and high official of the Nazialigned Slovak Republic.
