This film had great potential, which was partially killed by the length of the script, but mainly by the clumsy and helpless direction of Rojzman. Basically, everything is wrong with it. Soviet films and series from the 60s and 70s were made in a similar style. The overused clichés, bad actors in small roles, poorly executed action and fight scenes, lackluster acting even in more significant roles - the list could go on. It's a shame because there are very few films about this country and era. However, the execution is on the level of Four Tank-Men and a Dog, except that the series didn't take itself so seriously. Overall impression: 25%. I consider those modern action scenes as a truly successful joke. The director may have heard about bold editing, camera work, and dynamic action at training somewhere, but he definitely didn't apply it in practice... (2013.07.08)
