I'm only reviewing the 44-minute unrestored version. I would prefer to complete the overall impression with the commemorative film of the entire event, The Rest Is Silence, and I would not compare it in the slightest with Griffith, but with similarly ambitious films of smaller national cinemas, such as Binovec's 1920 Czech opus For the Freedom of the Nation.
