Otěc soldata

The Summer of 1942. An old Georgian peasant Georgi Makharashvili learns that his son has been wounded and is in hospital. Georgi sets out towards the frontline to see his son. But while he was travelling, his son recovered and went back to the front. Georgi decides to stay with the army and asks to be assigned to a motorized infantry unit. He fights side by side with his comrades-in-arms and goes as far as Berlin. In the last battle Georgi finally finds his son who dies of wounds in his arms. (Moscow International Film Festival)
