Hősünk, Tristan Thorn el akarja nyerni a gyönyörűséges Victoria szívét. Ezért útra kel egy varázslatos, mitikus világba, mert megígérte választottjának, hogy elhozza neki a hullócsillagot, mely a bűvös birodalomban ért földet. Ám mielőtt folytatnánk, tisztáznunk kell valamit. Amikor egy hullócsillag földet ér, emberi formát ölt. A mi hullócsillagunk, Yvaine a gyönyörű Claire Danesben ölt testet. (UIP-Duna Film)

angol An engaging story with a pleasant esprit of British dry humour and finally, after a long time, a fairy tale that does not make a fool of the children and delights the adults with its wit and the originality of its setting. I'm sure I'll read something by the oddball Gaiman sometime. Matthew Vaughn has grown up, and the likeable De Niro hasn't had such a rewarding role in a long time (his "travesty dance" in The Wardrobe is, I'd say, a rare moment in his long acting career). I don't mind the visibly limited budget at all, because this film has a soul and that's worth it. The slightly rushed finale is a bit of a pity perhaps, but otherwise it’s a very nice film. ()

angol Given that fantasy is one of my least favourite genres, these five stars are a little miracle. It’s cute, funny, nice and very well made. There wasn’t a moment that didn’t entertain me. ()

angol Gaiman's book is just heavy hype, whose biggest weakness is the author's inability to properly develop the themes of the "other" type of fantasy that he claims to be writing, which is why the expectations for the film were zero. It was all the more surprising to me in the end that I consider Stardust the best fantasy film since The Lord of the Rings. It won't impress you with bombastic special effects (the film was very heavily underfunded) or a sophisticated plot (it couldn't have squeezed more out of the book anyway). Yet from amongst all the films that followed Jackson, only now has a film come along that doesn't ooze producer calculations, but is instead shot with refinement, confidence, and proper authorial passion. Charlie Cox is likable, Claire Danes is truly as beautiful as a star in the sky, and Michelle Pfeiffer still exudes irresistible sex appeal. But none of them can compare to Robert De Niro, who clearly sensed that this was a proper role after all these years, and he enjoys his rugged captain with the tender soul of a transvestite so phenomenally that I (with apologies) shit myself with bliss. From a filmmaker's point of view, it's not worth top marks, but I nevertheless give it full marks for the sincerity that kept me endlessly entertained for two hours...with a wink. ()

angol Although in terms of technical aspects I can find all sorts of issues, except for the excellent soundtrack, in terms of pure emotion, Stardust affected me like few romantic / fantasy films... I immediately found connection to the likeable heroes, I smiled at the jerky humor, the imaginative choreography and joyfully light storytelling, through which Vaughn masks a relatively forgettable artistic vision and a (lack of) feeling for strong composition. Visually, Stardust is really just a mixture of proven techniques and bad CGI effects, which reveal that 70 million was simply not enough... However, the incomplete impression of the kingdom of Stormhold literally drowns in a nice impression of the story and great characters (especially the central couple and the famous De Niro, who turn a good movie into a great spectacle)... in my opinion Matthew Vaughan managed to create a less than magnificent fairy tale with a big soul. Unfortunately, today's viewer likely prefers magnificence. ()

angol Stardust is a gem with a playful soul hidden in an undignified shabby technical garb. That is, exactly the opposite of what is usually the case these days. P.S. About a year and a half later: With each subsequent screening (it's a small miracle in itself that I voluntarily watch something more than once), I love it more and more. Slowly, but very surely, it has become one of my favorites... ♫ OST score: 5/5 ()

angol I only needed a pleasant mood, a head full of imagination, and a few minutes in the Wall. Thanks to the second projection of Stardust, it became the most pleasurable delight in a very long time. With this, I am paying a huge tribute to the story of Tristan, Yvaine, or Septimus, and I am slowly setting off to search for the star. This radiant enlightenment has given me a romantic mood for months to come. Vaughn, with numerous cliché violations and at the same time confirming all the necessary aspects of a great adventure spectacle, created a heartwarming film after which fairy tales will never be the same as before. Now excuse me, I'm going to dry my eyes. But it's not because of being moved, it's just some specks of dust that fell into them. Guess what kind. ()

angol Undoubtedly the biggest cinematic experience from the films of recent times. It is a very pleasant fairy tale fantasy, and very well acted, cast, and thoroughly handled both in terms of direction and script. An impressive romantic spectacle about the search for love and success in life. Contrary to some reviews, I don't think it suffers from poor set design. Scenes with the airship are among those that I will always remember, and as a boy, that's exactly the kind of airship I dreamed of. In several scenes, the authors poke fun at fairy tale stereotypes and lighten the storytelling with jokes and thrilling battles. Intrigues, passions, fights - simply everything that an audience can appreciate. With the exception of really young children (because the film does contain some more drastic scenes), the film is truly for everyone. Overall impression: 95%. ()

angol A wonderful family movie made even more special thanks to Gaiman’s imagination and his feeling for story. Marvelous casting, from the beautiful Claire Danes all the way down to the horrible Peter O'Toole;everybody fits their roles perfectly and Vaugh demonstrates that he really knows his stuff. Why can’t life be a fairytale like this too? ()

angol Camera flights and shots of large panoramas, striking orchestral and choral music, slow-motion shots of running horses – at times it looks like another installment of Lord of the Rings, but it is by no means that. Stardust is a heartfelt, immensely entertaining, and funny ride that will amuse viewers of all ages. It won't bore the little ones, and it won't offend the grown-ups, which is damn hard to achieve, especially in fantasy these days. All the wannabe successors to Peter Jackson burned out until now, almost without exception, but Matthew Vaughn scores with witty humor, clever dialogues, and an excellent cast, with Claire Danes and Robert De Niro leading the pack. And just when it seems like it could fall into cliché and sentimentality, something happens that turns the previous minutes on their head and the ride continues at a brisk pace. A project that wasn't believed in and yet succeeded. ()

angol Very good. When Matthew Vaughn's exuberant imagination is not enough, either Michelle Pfeiffer's ever more attractive witch or the amazingly funny Robert De Niro on a truly unique role step in with great gusto. The fantastic story and, above all, the world it creates are less appealing and holistic than, say, The Neverending Story or the still unique The Princess Bride, but I can't recall an American fairy tale where the director managed to combine a purely childish portion of entertainment with a purely adult one so brilliantly and seamlessly. Anyway, I am convinced that if Václav Vorlíček had had the same budget and technical possibilities in his time, he would have handled such an interesting subject a little more magically (though certainly not more entertainingly). 4* and a bit. angol After the two films I've seen from Vaughn (Kick-Ass and this) I'm still not convinced he's much of a director, but he's definitely a cool wingman. Stardust is a not-so-cleverly story edited affair (enough things here could have been resolved in dialogue and didn't need to be unnecessarily shown) that has little will to mask its social budget and devotes its own shot, if not scene, to every digital special effect, no matter how bad. You even realize at the beginning of the film that you hate everything that's been there so far. And yet without it, the gradual coming of age of not just the hero, but the story, probably wouldn't work. First you're delighted with details like the hillbilly Yvaine, the envious witches, the blue blood, and the brotherly shenanigans (with, again, the unbelievably perfect Mark Strong), then the whole direction the film takes with lots of perfect digressions to round out the plot, the best of which I would consider to be the relationship between the fearsome Captain Shakespeare and his crew of cutthroats. And I still enjoy the pirate rapists' tough-guy gesture to this day. "Now remember, Captain Shakespeare has a fearsome reputation." ()

angol This is simply a matter of the heart. It was a movie that we went on our first date with my girlfriend, and every time I watch it, it reminds me of that. It's been some time, but the movie doesn't lose its charm, quite the opposite. This is a beautiful modern fairytale that was brilliantly brought to the screen, which I wouldn't have believed before. angol To label a film as "distinctive" can often feel like one giant cliché, but in the case of Matthew Vaughn's Stardust, it's the distinctiveness and the unconventional (actually quite non-mainstream) approach that are the main strengths of the film as a whole. The production design, of course, does not reach the monumentality of "real" Hollywood films and the whole film is more or less "just" in a pleasantly intimate spirit, which inevitably shows in the result – it is a fresh, appealing, "fantastical" fairy tale story that does not abound with bombastic visual effects or a "properly" flashy exterior, and therefore will not satisfy the "modern" consumerist viewer. On the other hand, those who expect naturalism, creativity, and playfulness in the true sense of the word will not be disappointed. ()

angol Definition of a modern fantasy fairy tale. An incredibly positive movie made with wit and grace. This is how I imagine a movie that is literally for everyone, but not in an annoying way. I can give nothing but the highest of ratings. By the way, I can't think of a better closing credits song than the amazing “Rule the World”. ()

angol A very powerful movie. I enjoyed it and the acting performances were great - Michelle Pfeiffer was particularly fantastic. Stardust really is magical and I loved the movie world presented here. The only thing that spoiled the overall impression was the overly fairytale-style ending and, in my opinion, miserable special effects. ()
