An excellent BBC mini-series, one of those in which Hans Matheson was a traditional favorite. Anne-Marie Duff in the lead role is almost unreal - she plays the entire life of Queen Elizabeth I from her youth to her death and is always authentic. Of the many versions of the Queen's biography, this one has endured numerous criticisms and yet stands up in many ways. It’s also comparable to both Cate Blanchett films.
