As the investigation proceeds it becomes clear that Svedberg's murder is connected with the killing of three teenagers earlier that summer. As the motive becomes more and more clear it becomes obvious that there are more victims to be expected. Soon this evolves into a cat and mouse game where Wallander uses all his skill and intuition to find the murderer before he strikes again.
