N LIKE FLINT, a sequel to the popular OUR MAN FLINT, features James Coburn in a reprise of his role as the dashing title character. In this amusing parody of spy films, the American president has been replaced by an actor ("An actor? As president?"), and a group of beautiful and powerful renegade women, led by the lovely Helena (Hanna Landy), plot to take over the world. They wish to create a race of female soldiers by brainwashing women with a device planted inside beauty salon hair dryers. "Brainwashing and hair washing at the same time." I almost regret giving the first Derek Flint movie a full star rating, because this sequel is better in every way. Humor, action, women, James Coburn, Lee J. Cobb, Goldsmith's music... Not only is there more of everything, but it's also better presented. Just for example - in the first film I laughed at the reference to Flint's occasional trip to Moscow, where he teaches ballet. This time, however, I did see him ballet in Moscow and to make matters worse, he also used ballet jumps in a great chase/shootout on the rooftops of Moscow to which the fantastic Goldsmith piece ‘Odin, Dva, Tri, Kick", quoting Tchaikovsky's “Swan Lake", was played. It is, in short, a truly wacky, crazy parody, whose audience can sing-along the Internationale in one scene if they read the Cyrillic alphabet (the words are indicated by a bouncing red star), and whose protagonist (elusive, invulnerable, immortal, unkillable and, of course, irresistible) saves humanity by being able to talk to dolphins.
