angol A distinctly studio-bound, typically television project, and a modern reinterpretation quite disrespectful to the classic, which should bring great joy primarily to feminists. Princess Máňa, played by Jana Boušková, is the driving force behind almost all the events on screen; she travels to her groom in a car and easily disciplines and civilizes hell in its entirety. I'm not particularly fond of studio productions, and I approach modern fairy tales with caution because, with a few exceptions, they tend to lose their poetic and romantic charm at best, or turn into awkward nonsense at worst. However, thanks to its source material and witty screenplay, this film surprisingly works well. It features a healthy dose of humor, and its almost whimsical approach turns this Josef Lada fairy tale into a charming spectacle. Overall impression 75%. ()
