Matti and his quiet friend Niila grow up in Vittula, a tiny, isolated town north of the Arctic Circle, populated by hard-drinking, silent men and tough women. It's the 1960s and, whether the locals like it or not, the dirt roads are getting paved and rock music is coming to town. The world of Vittula remains unthreatened until Greger, a trendy music teacher from the south of Sweden, shows up on his racing bike.
