Hippo is 25-years old jobless young man, who has turned his back on the entire capitalist system. He doesn´t want to have a job and he doesn´t try to find one, because his philosophy takes stock in not being someone else's slave and making his happiness by his poker winnings. However, he has one responsibility and worry– his younger brother, who makes money as a drugs dealer. As a representative of a disillusioned generation Hippo doesn't have designer clothes or a car and he doesn´t cre, what other people think of him. He is happy in his smug self-sufficiency and with his life full of parties, poker games, petty crimes and sleeping late. And then he meets Nathalie, a middleclass student who is intent on pursuing a successful career as an interpreter. She is impressed by Hippo's honesty and is charmed by his strange romantic qualities. But first, they have to find out, that they come from two completely different worlds. While Nathalie wants to belong to the busy materialistic world, Hippo seeks merely to reject it. Rochant brings a simple story about love and consequences of love, but enormously witty and likeable study of emotional alienation and commitment as well. Stylishly shot Rochant excellent feature debut never slips into moralization and depicts a vivacious, uncommonly plausible portrait of contemporary Parisian youth. (forgalmazó hivatalos szövege)
