Uncle from Another World is an excellent tragicomedy. There were a lot of scenes where I wasn’t sure whether to laugh, feel sorry for the uncle, or be embarrassed because I would have done the exact same thing in many situations. I could see myself too well in those scenes. I appreciate the originality of the idea. There are way too many isekai series (stories about someone from our world suddenly finding themselves in another world), but there aren’t that many series about someone returning from such a trip years later and telling the story of their adventures. Plus, the world to which the main character returns has advanced technologically and socially, and this change poses a problem for the hero. There's also a nice parallel between the uncle and his nephew. It was fun to see how similar they were in some ways despite the age difference. Uncle from Another World also has distinctive animation, which some may not find appealing, but it beautifully underlines the tragicomic tone of the whole series. I also grew fond of the characters, especially the cute tsundere elf whose peculiar romantic line with the uncle had me laughing constantly. She wasn’t the only one, though. There were two more girls whose relationship with the main character was similarly "complicated". The humor worked, and I had a great time watching. It was sometimes incredibly absurd, at times almost silly, but it hit the spot for me every time and I was often laughing out loud. I'm sorry that the show's crew was struggling with health problems. The irregular air dates may have caused many viewers to lose the flow (sometimes I felt that it affected the quality and drive of certain episodes). The interruptions may have made some fans lose interest and decreased the chance of another season coming out. I truly wish there will be another one. I’m sure Uncle has many more interesting stories to tell, and it would be a shame if we didn’t get to hear them...8/10 (2023.03.11)
