Rescued by Ruby doesn't really stand out from other films like it, except perhaps for the fact that even though it has a canine protagonist, it doesn't try to play on emotions. In terms of content and form, this is a made-for-TV movie for just one viewing, but it’s nevertheless told in an endearing way. You follow the story of a policeman and a dog who actually save each other's lives, without any unnecessary pathos.
