The "Paradise Place" of the title has a double meaning: not only is it the name of the summer house in the Stockholm Archipelago where a well-to-do family spends its vacations; it is also an ironic appellation for the "ideal" Swedish society. The film is not a moral tract, however. On the contrary, it is a highly attractive movie about four generations of a family and the relationship between a physician, who is trying to keep her family together, and her friend, who is trying to get the doctor to broaden her humanity and concerns. Tension grows when a mentally disturbed child and a sympathetic, "revolutionary" teenager join the family. (forgalmazó hivatalos szövege)
