Supermodels in the supermarket: perfect, flawless, crisp. As if they were cloned, the apples lay in wait in the sales shelves - goods for an international market, in which too much diversity is actually annoying. In the past, each region produced its own favourites. In Germany alone, more than 3000 varieties of apple were cultivated. In the meantime, just 10 to 15 of them still play an economic role Internationally marketed "club varieties" displace the traditional apple from the coveted and scarce shelf space of the supermarket. With sexy names, such as "Pink Lady", the simple apple from the tree becomes a brand name and lifestyle product. In the modern apple world, fresh is that which looks fresh. This is where chemistry enters the equation - with a miracle drug of a Dow Chemical subsidiary. It acts like a fountain of youth, yet is not subject to labelling requirements. This means that the customer never discovers why his apple looks just as fresh and wrinkle-free after spending months in the fruit bowl. Is it really fresh? Or has it spent a year in a chemical twilight sleep? (forgalmazó hivatalos szövege)
