Ne hagyj nyomot! (2018)

angol A bit of a tramping drama in the vein of Captain Fantastic about a dad and his daughter who live in a natural way and try to become one with nature. This doesn’t go over well with people who live orthodox lives and don’t understand and condemn everything but the established norm. The Americans are terrible puritans in this regard, but in here (Czech Republic) this movie has to warm the heart of every tramp. I liked it too and I’m not even a tramp. Here in the Czech Republic, we are probably more benevolent than the people in the USA. The second half of the movie and the moments in the community with the uncle, who played American tramp songs, were really nice, radiating a feeling of well-being and freedom; just like the ending itself, which was flawless Ben Foster engraved himself into my memory thanks to this role and I am looking forward to seeing him in Medieval.

Winnetou 1. (1963)

angol I simply cannot add the fifth star. And it is probably because I didn’t see the film for the first time as I child and neither did I stand in queues in the summer theater, unlike many older users here. In fact, I'll probably be one of the few who visited Plitvice lakes before seeing the first installment of Winnetou. But, as years go by, I’m getting a taste for it more and more and I have to say that I completely understand why Winnetou is such a legend for many.

Doom Patrol (2019) (sorozat)

angol During the first few episodes I told myself that this might be the most likeable “superhero” group from Detective Comics. I’ve put superheroes in quotation marks on purpose because it seemed to me as if they were rather a bunch of idiots who have no idea what to do with their newly acquired abilities. The best thing about it was Brendan Fraser, who I really liked seeing after such a long time and I grew fond of him immediately. And that happened despite his character being portrayed as a rather strange in the beginning. That is not to say the others weren’t good; they were, and they made a pretty good bunch who were tearing each other into bits with their lines. However, over time their demons started to show, probably to create the reason to watch the first season to the end. But due to this, the series started to fall into mediocrity. There weren’t that many good ideas appearing anymore, the enemy, more often than not, wasn’t really there, and the whole thing was very incoherent. For a while, I felt that the screenwriters thought that they could do whatever they wanted with the DC Patrol teams’ world, and so they did. Sometimes it was such a crazy screenwriting trip as if the whole world had no limits at all and anything could happen there.

Te lehetsz a gyilkos (2018)

angol There is nothing like watching a horror movie that doesn’t take itself seriously and benefits from this fact as much as possible. Here, they passed with flying colors. A stylish small-scale horror film, which makes fun of everything and does it pretty well. Only Alyson Hannigan didn’t look like a slag in HIMYM (How I met Your Mother), but she portrayed the horror professional brilliantly. Was it intention or her age?

Földi űrutazás (1977)

angol A very decent parallel to Apollo 11. I’m almost surprised that Capricorn One went under my radar for so long. Maybe the Zionist pro-American missionaries did everything in their power to keep me from seeing this movie so that I couldn’t wonder about the truth about the Moon landing.

Határok mentén (2019)

angol Netflix put together a bunch of solid Hollywood fellows in just as solid action movie in the vein of the legendary Three Kings with George Clooney. The action is solid, screenplay turned the champs a bit into idiots, but for stuff to happen it probably couldn’t have been any different. I only missed, just like with any action movie recently, a bit more catchphrases, which would make me think that the guys deserve to be called champs. Well, maybe next time.

Terepfutás (2015)

angol Nice. Kevin Costner simply knows how to choose a good, pro-American story. The runner boys are evidently living their American dream. The best moment was when I saw that the boy who won the race had a belly just like mine and he managed to best professional athletes. I’ll give them that the story simply has a unique human spirit, which should serve as an example to all who have given up their fight with themselves. The filmmaking aspect of the movie is a bit worse. I felt a bit like it was trying to emulate something like Cool Runnings, but I was missing more likeable moments, better scenes, and a little more emphasis on the fun; the creators instead turned it into a classic Hollywood story full of great pathetic moments with the American flag in the background.

Életszonáta (2018)

angol Everyone here behaved like nutjobs. First, there are terrorists, then there are tenors, suddenly it’s a friendly tea party and finally, it ends in a brutal shootout. I understood the idea behind the movie, but it was conveyed as if a bunch of losers came together and wanted to make fools out of everybody, so they shot whatever they wanted. But I was intrigued by the ending. Even though the opera voice wasn’t coming out of Julianne Moore’s mouth, at least I found out that there is an American opera singer Renée Fleming, who also learned to sing Rusalka in beautiful Czech. Hats off.

Barátom, Róbert Gida (2018)

angol Not so long ago, I saw the movie Goodbye Christopher Robin, so I was a little anxious that this movie will be in a similar vein. Nowadays, there is a Hollywood trend to make films dealing with the same topic in the span of one or several years. I don’t really get it, but whatever. However, Christopher Robin worked. You could say that it is even more playful than its predecessor. Besides, the casting of Ewan McGregor was a relatively good choice. A heart-warming family movie that found its place in my heart. Just like Winnie the Pooh.

Dermesztő hajsza (2019)

angol I admit that if I knew that this movie was a remake of the strange Scandinavian movie In Order of Disappearance, I would think long and hard about whether or not I would even watch it. Especially since it was done by the same director. This way I was lured in by Liam Neeson, from whom I was expecting a classic action ride, which he has providedin abundance in recent years. However, it was a little different here. The funny moments weren’t funny. The absurdity was rather ridiculously awkward. All in all, I didn’t find anything that would entertain me during the two hours. What’s more, it is a fairly faithful copy of the Swedish original, which renders it just as useless as, for example, Funny Games. It is a shame that Liam Neeson wasted his time here.
